I finished Girl in the Fireplace, Human Nature, Family of Blood, and Blink. Now let me just say, Blink and Family of Blood are now at the top of my list in terms of favorite episodes. Angela wanted me to blog today, and I don't have enough time to watch another episode tonight, so here I am, living up to my word (...and using commas like I'm Jack freakin' Kerouac).
So I decided to expose my nerdiness (c'mon spellcheck, what do you mean that isn't a word?) by talking about my favorite episodes so far. So here they are, in no particular order:
1. Blink
I was really confused at the beginning of this episode, but once Sally Sparrow started talking to the Doctor and learned about the weeping angels, I loved it. I loved how the whole transcript thing worked and how he had to look to someone else for help. I also loved when the guy (whose name I can't remember) was in the room with the angel while Sally was looking for a way out and he had to keep his eyes open. I was laying there trying to keep my eyes open the whole time to see if I could survive. Which I kind of did. And when I say kind of did, I mean I blinked a few times. And when he turned around and he looked back and the thing had moved so much closer, it freaked the hell out of me! I also love the part where they're trying to get to the TARDIS and all the angels are there and the lights keep flickering on and off and each time they go back on the angels are closer and closer. This episode will give me nightmares, but I loved it. Also, I heard they're bring Sally Sparrow and the weeping angels back with the new Doctor? So that'll be cool. And other than the fact that I didn't really understand how or why Sally's friend disappeared, it was pretty awesome.
2. Family of Blood
I LOVE THIS EPISODE. So basically the Doctor turns into a human under the name of John Smith, and he doesn't know anything about him being the Doctor, but he recorded a video before changing himself so Martha could watch it and know what to do. I'm not quite clear on why he turned into a human, but I'm 96% sure it's because this creepy family needs a Time Lord or else they will die in three months. Anywho, "John Smith" falls in love with a human. Shock. The Doctor didn't think of this possibility beforehand so he didn't tell Martha what to do so the episode basically just focuses on her trying to find the pocket watch that his "Doctor self" is stored in and trying to convince him to turn back into the Doctor. But it's not as boring as it sounds! I think the reason I love this episode so much is because David Tennant is just so brilliant at the end. He is the best at pulling of those really dramatic, tragic moments, and I love him for it. Also, his voice was really low and deep when he was a human. Sexy?
3. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances
I love Christopher Eccleston. Plain and simple. Also, the 40s is my favorite time period and I love the fact that this episode takes place during the German air raids. If only these people had taken Rebels with a Cause and saw the video Robby D showed us that has the turtle who teaches you how to duck and cover. Although, Robby D did say that this was the video they showed children in the 40s...so maybe not. Obviously if an atomic bomb drop, ducking and covering is the best form of protection. Obviously. And who doesn't love going up to people and saying "Are you my mummy?" in a very creepy, young british boy voice. Or the more hilarious "mooommmyyyy..." Plus, the surprise ending! Hello, should have seen that coming...
4. Daleks in Manhatten / Evolution of the Daleks
I love the 20s a lot. And though she seemed really dumb at first, I really liked Tallulah. She had that stereotypical 20s flapper girl accent, which is just annoying enough to be awesome. She's awesome, and even when her boyfriend was turned into a pig-thing, she still cared for and wanted to be with him. And the way she says his name makes me laugh everytime...and she says it a lot. Laaaaaasszzlo. The only thing I hated about this episode was the "Human Dalek". His face was all wiggly and jiggly and gross, and not wibbly wobbly timey wimey. Gross.
And that's it for now, because I have to go read for Robby D's class tomorrow and attempt to start Lord of the Rings for Marky Mark. Sooooo that's all folks! Or I guess I should say "folk" instead, seeing as how I only have one follower.
That's all folk!
PS. On the Wikipedia page for Blink, it says it was preceded by Girl in the Fireplace (correct) and succeeded by Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Umm... No?
